POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE SOLID

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION

Potassium hydroxide (KOH) solid is an inorganic white solid offered in the form of flakes and pellets. It serves as a strong base that can be dissolved through a chemical reaction.

PPC produces solid KOH by drying the liquid KOH that is formed during our on-site electrolysis process. We offer KOH solid in various forms and concentrations, such as 90% and 95% flakes or 85% pellets.

AREAS OF APPLICATION

Potassium hydroxide solid is used as an intermediate in a wide range of manufacturing processes, from the production of pharmaceuticals and fertilisers, to its use in petroleum refining. In addition, it is a precursor to other potassium compounds.
Solid KOH serves as a catalyst in biodiesel production, as a water-softening agent in detergents and in the manufacture of optical and crystal glass, photographic compounds, latex rubber and dyes. In addition, potassium hydroxide solid is used to produce solvents for degreasing and cleaning, lubricant additives, corrosion inhibitors and in the creation of other potassium-based salts.
KOH is a highly hygroscopic solid, meaning it attracts and holds water molecules from the surrounding environment, making it a useful laboratory desiccant (drying agent).
In food industry applications, solid KOH acts as an acidity regulator and as an inhibitor for the production of potassium sorbate and other food preservatives.
